Problem

Plant scientists and the universities, research institutes and government agencies they work in are increasingly calling for more energy efficient lab equipment. They also want their equipment to be flexible so that they can use it for multiple different plant science experiments –thereby stretching their research dollars for maximum impact.

Solution

Enter the GEN1000-ECO. The GEN1000-ECO is nearly twice as energy efficient as other chambers of a similar size on the market. It also rejects only 2,824BTU/hr to ambient compared to its nearest competitor (4,100BTU/hr) – which means lab air conditioning will not have to work nearly as hard to keep the air at a comfortable working temperature.

As clients tend to keep their Conviron units running for a long time, research requirements may change over the years. Should clients be looking for ways to adapt their chamber while minimizing impact on budget, the GEN1000-ECO includes electrical outlets for all three lighting tier variants, even if those tiers were not originally ordered. This makes it simpler and less expensive to retrofit the chamber with additional lighting canopies if research changes over time.

Impact

Launched in July 2024, the GEN1000-ECO can be fitted from the factory with one of three options – incubation, short plant or tall plant. Having the right option pre-installed from the factory means plant scientists will be able to get growing fast and have the reassurance that their chamber arrives ready for both their research program and plants.
